I am a medical device rep with more than a decade of experience. I have experienced both Field Safety Notices and FDA Device Recalls. I have seen first-hand the shortcomings of the current antiquated system. Prior to my time as a medical device rep, I was the Chief Radiology Technologist at one of the busiest vascular/cardiovascular hospitals in the US. Not only did we perform a tremendous amount of primary procedures, we had many secondary fixes of implanted devices. The reporting system for these secondary procedures is lacking and incomplete. An interactive database like MedTrak is the answer to all the deficiencies in the reporting system and the warning system. The MedTrak for Life tag line does not just mean tracking for the lifetime of the device or the lifetime of the patient, but it means added safety and real-time reporting for the protection of the patient with the implant.
